Circe Henestrosa is a fashion curator based in Singapore, but her leadership and influence spans cultural institutions across the globe. She curated the exhibition Appearances Can Be Deceiving: The Dresses of Frida Kahlo in Mexico.
The Victoria & Albert Museum in London recently worked in collaboration with Circe to host the acclaimed exhibition Frida Kahlo Making Her Self Up where she also co-edited the book Frida by Ishiuchi.
Circe is currently the Head of Fashion at LASALLE College of the Arts in Singapore and is globally renowned for her research presentations in the United Kingdom, Mexico, China, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore.
We have been friends for more than 10 years and I've always known her as a natural born leader. I admire her capacity in leading people while encouraging and inspiring others to achieve their best.
I have many wonderful memories of travelling with Circe – from Bali to London to Morocco, and her positivity is truly infectious.
I think feeling comfortable in your own skin is very important. To understand your body and how you can play with it is important. What you conceal and what you reveal, which we constantly do with fashion. It's not only about your clothes but also about your state of mind, which allows you to portray your personality to its fullest capacity.
